HOPES is a support program available to parents
of young children to assist in empowering them to become and remain strong and
healthy families. During scheduled home
visits, family support workers offer support and education on infant/child
behavior and development, health and nutrition, education, employment
opportunities, as well as how to access other community services. Developmental screenings are also done with
the young child on a regular basis and referrals are made to appropriate
agencies if delays are detected. Initial
HOPES screenings are done with pregnant women and new parents and they may
choose to enroll in the program at any time until the child is three months of
age. Participation in HOPES is
voluntary, free to the family and is not based on income.
